Vardenafil is indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in adult males
(inability to achieve or maintain penile erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance).

How does Vardenafil work?

Research has shown that ED is caused by an enzyme, PDE-5, and that blockage of this enzyme results in a more profound smooth muscle relaxation with increased blood flow to the penis and a resultant improved or normalized erection.

Vardenafil is a more selective inhibitor of the PDE-5 enzyme and is approximately 5 times as effective as sildenafil in blocking enzyme activity.

Another potential advantage of vardenafil is less interference with absorption by food and alcohol, both of which may result in significant inhibition of the sildenafil effect.

Vardenafil may be somewhat more effective in two hard to treat groups of patients; diabetics and post radical prostatectomy patients.

It is important to note that these drugs do not increase libido but merely facilitate a normal erection. Patients must be instructed in proper use of the medications and urged to try them on multiple occasions before considering them a failure.

Vardenafil does not cure impotency, increase a man's sexual desire, protect from sexually transmitted diseases, or serve as birth control. It only helps maintain an erection when a man is sexually excited

How should I take it?

Vardenafil comes as a tablet to take by mouth. The normal dosage is either 10mg or 20mg. It should be taken as needed about 1 hour before sexual activity. Some form of sexual stimulation is needed for an erection to occur with vardenafil. Vardenafil should not be taken more than once a day.

Follow the directions carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take vardenafil exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Vardenafil can be taken with or without food.

What are the likely side effects?

Although side effects from vardenafil are not common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these side effects are severe or do not go away: Headache Nausea, upset stomach, dizziness or lightheadedness, flushing (feeling of warmth) and stuffy or runny nose

If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately: rash, painful erection, prolonged erection (longer than 4 hours), changes in vision, fainting, chest pain and itching or burning during urination.
